Catharina Dhaen’s approach to painting is based on sensitivity.
Her works seem happy and colorful, they inboek a sense of free-spiritednesd, of doing whatever she likes. But it's exactly this radical way of claiming her freedom that provides her with a framework in which she can create exactly what she wants. It’s a liberty she has created quite carefully. And despite the surface’s playfulness, there lingers this interplay of seducing and betrayal and any questions it might arise.

Catharina Dhaens' works were recently on view in institutions such as CC Binder in Puurs; De Witte Rook in Breda; Emergent in Veurne and the Citymuseum in Menen amongst others.
